Untreated Te Anau wastewater a serious health risk - councillor

From Morning Report, 6:15 am on 19 December 2017

A district councillor from Te Anau says the council needs to bite the bullet and treat wastewater from the town before pumping it away. The Southland District Council has resource consent to pump the water 18 kilometres and spread it using pivot irrigators on the north side of the Manapouri airport, but the project has been criticised as having serious health and environmental risks. Councillor Ebel Kremer told RNZ reporter Ian Telfer the council should consider more expensive but more effective option.
