Putāruru family fights for ACC after mystery illness

From Morning Report, 8:43 am on 22 January 2018

A Putaruru family struck down with a mystery illness initially thought to be botulism are battling to have that diagnosis overturned and access to ACC reinstated. Shibu Kochummen, his wife Subi, and his mother Alekutty Daniel became paralysed after eating the boar meat in November last year. The family has praised the life-saving medical care they received but still have questions about why they were continually told it was botulism when all the tests had ruled it out. Sue Grey is the family's lawyer and tells Guyon Espiner there's no reason why they shouldn't get ACC cover.
