Jacinda Ardern not committing to TPP details release

From Morning Report, 6:39 am on 25 January 2018

The Prime Minister is not committing to releasing details of the newly renegotiated Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal, but says the government intends to be as transparent as possible. The 11-nation deal is likely to be signed on March 8, after the latest talks in Japan. The National Party will give the government the numbers it needs to pass the enabling legislation, but its trade spokesperson, Todd McClay, wants to see the details as soon as possible. At Ratana Pa, Ms Ardern was asked how progressing the deal squares with protests from Labour and Green over the TPP when they were in opposition. Ms Ardern also told reporters she'd had some discussions with her Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau last week, to try to move the deal forward.
