Sex abuse victim wants churches in govt inquiry

From Morning Report, 8:41 am on 30 January 2018

A victim of sexual abuse has accused the Catholic Church in New Zealand of a sophisticated systemic cover-up - and says it will not make protecting children a priority unless it is forced to do so by a Royal Commission.

On Thursday the government is set to unveil its inquiry into the historical abuse of children while they were in the care of the state. One man spoken to by RNZ wants the inquiry to be expanded to cover faith based and sports institutions, wherever abuse occurred. He told his story to us, on the condition of anonymity.
