Child poverty law: PM to unveil govt targets 'very shortly'

From Morning Report, 6:40 am on 31 January 2018

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is poised to unveil her first set of targets for reducing child poverty. And it could be as soon as Wednesday afternoon, with Ms Ardern due to make a major speech outlining the government's progress over its first 100 days. Ms Ardern revealed her cornerstone child poverty bill yesterday - requiring future governments to set 10-year and three-year targets. The opposition National Party is still deciding whether it will support the child poverty bill. Its leader Bill English says it's full of good intentions, but contains little substance.
