From Morning Report, 7:37 am on 1 February 2018

Donald Trump's first State of the Union address contained some concilliatory language but he was still talking tough on immigration and hitting out at political opponents. He also spent much of his speech yesterday talking up the booming US economy and taking credit for recent record highs on Wall St. But while his Republican colleagues were lapping it up, Mr Trump's attempts to reach across the aisle were rejected by Democrats with boos and catcalls. Political columnist for The Hill, Brent Budowsky, joins Susie Ferguson with his analysis.
