Euthanasia advocate's assisted suicide trial continues

From Morning Report, 7:48 am on 13 February 2018

A woman whose mother's death is at the centre of a High Court trial in Wellington wept in the witness box as she spoke of the last hours she spent with her.

Veronica Mansfield was giving evidence at the trial of a euthanasia advocate, Susan Austen, who is accused of helping Annemarie Treadwell to commit suicide in 2016.

Ms Austen is also charged with importing the prohibited drug, Pentobarbitone, into New Zealand.

The Court was told that Annemarie Treadwell suffered depression and pain from arthritis, but she did not have a terminal illness.

RNZ court reporter, Ann Marie May is following the trial.
