New Plymouth on boil water notice, work starts on broken pipe

From Morning Report, 7:22 am on 22 February 2018

Repairs crews will be starting work at first light to fix the broken pipe that's cut water to a quarter of New Plymouth district's water network. A boil water notice is in place for at least a week after cyclone Gita knocked out a crucial water pipe. There's been a rush on bottled water at the local supermarkets and residents are also filling up at water tankers around the city. Mark Wales was filling up on Wednesday night at one of the tankers and was stoic about the water being off. A state of emergency remains in New Plymouth and mayor Neil Holdom joins Susie Ferguson with an update.
