Retirement village owners contest govt's foreign buyer ban

Some of New Zealand's biggest retirement village chains are pleading for an exception to be made under the government's foreign buyer ban. The multibillion-dollar NZX-listed businesses, Ryman Healthcare and Metlifecare, have a significant portion of overseas investors - if the government's planned law change goes ahead, these companies will not be able to purchase any more land in New Zealand without state approval.
