Final gig bids farewell to the Kings Arms

From Morning Report, 8:55 am on 1 March 2018

A local treasure, and a comfy old slipper, are how some of the punters in one of the country's oldest pubs described a beloved Auckland music venue last night, during its last ever gig. Hundreds of people packed the Kings Arms in France Street to reminisce and for one couple, renew their vows. The tavern, which was first built in 1880, has hosted countless bands over the years including the White Stripes, the Black Keys and the Misfits to name a few. But the family-owned site was sold for more than $7 million in December 2016, making way for an apartment block. RNZ reporter Jessie Chiang was there for its final farewell.
