John Walker's golden moment captured in bronze

From Morning Report, 8:55 am on 9 March 2018

It was the high point of Sir John Walker's record breaking career and the picture of the long haired runner, both hands reaching high as he crossed the line to win gold, flashed around the world's news wires. That image has now been immortalised in a bronze statue that will be unveiled tomorrow at the primary school in Manurewa Sir John attended 60 years ago. With us now is sculptor, Joanne Sullivan and sports historian Ron Palenski, who was watching from the stands in Montreal on that famous day.
