Young Labour alleged sex assault: Kirton defends response

From Morning Report, 8:11 am on 13 March 2018

The Prime Minister is standing by the general secretary of the party despite him taking "too long" to respond to sexual assaults at a Young Labour summer camp. A 20-year-old man put his hands down the pants of four 16-year-olds, two boys and two girls at a party where alcohol was present. Jacinda Ardern told us there were clear failures in how the sexual assaults were handled. She says the man involved was not a member of the Labour Party or Young Labour. Ms Ardern told the programme she didn't know if the young victims wanted to go to the police or not or whether they felt their parents should be told. We're joined by the party's general secretary Andrew Kirton.
