Skripal poisoning: Tension grows as Russia denies involvement

The Russian foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, says Russia will not co-operate with the UK inquiry into how the former spy, Sergei Skripal and his daughter were poisoned unless it sees evidence. UK Prime Minister Theresa May has given the Kremlin until midnight (UK time) to explain the attack on English soil. If they don't then Britain is expected to bring in a raft of sanctions against Russia. Sergie Lavrov says Moscow will not be responding to the UK deadline, and said Britain had refused access to the substance used in the assault. He describes claims of Russian involvement as "rubbish". President Donald Trump says he believes Britain's assessment that Russia was behind the attack. And in developing news another critic of Russia and Russian President Vladamir Putin has been found dead in London of unexplained causes. Nikolai Glushkov was exiled from Russia and living in the UK.
