Ardern talks oil drilling, Greens questions, Russia trade

From Morning Report, 7:28 am on 20 March 2018

The issue of uncertainty around the future of oil and gas exploration in this country has arisen after Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern accepted a petition from Greenpeace on Monday calling for an end to oil & gas drilling in New Zealand. Ms Ardern says she's "actively considering" the issue.

But her comment has sparked confusion as to whether she was referring to the annual block offer where explorers compete for the right to search for oil and gas, or the wider issue of the industry's future in New Zealand.

She delayed a state meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo to receive the petition.

She joins Kim Hill in Wellington to discuss that, as well as Green Party questions and Winston Peters' response to Russia's alleged involvement in the Skripal poisoning.
