Coroner raises concerns over police treatment of suicidal woman
A mental health nurse urged police not to charge a woman with driving offences on the same night she threatened suicide. The inquest for Karen Michelle Day began in Whakatane District Court on Wednesday before Coroner Michael Robb, who questioned the police response. As Jessie Chiang reports, it's raised questions of whether there are shortcomings in the way police deal with mental health.
