NZ's first native sea lion breeding colony in 150 years

For the first time in more than 150 years, a new breeding colony of New Zealand sea lions - rapoka - has been established on mainland New Zealand. The new colony on Stewart Island of the endangered, endemic species has had a consistent pup count for several years now, and the Department of Conservation is thrilled with the outcome.
