Shane Jones' bureacracy comments 'dangerous' - expert

An academic is warning that giving politicians the power to hire and fire top civil servants at will - as proposed by Regional Development Minister Shane Jones - would be dangerous. Mr Jones is blaming a sluggish bureaucracy for dragging the chain on infrastructure and says the public service needs what he calls "a political laxative".
