Petrol in Wellington region an 'oligopoly' - Dave Bodger

Despite a face-to-face meeting with BP executives on Thursday, the Minister of Energy Megan Woods has received no concessions yet from the oil company. Dr Woods told us this morning the oil company had been warned that the government is moving to strengthen the commerce commission's powers to police the petrol industry. So what do those in the industry think? Dave Bodger is general manager of cut-price operator Gull. He tells Susie Ferguson it's an oligopoly market around the Wellington region. Further north the petrol industry acts more like a free market, he says.
