Calls for change from education summit

From Morning Report, 7:28 am on 7 May 2018

The government has kicked off its quest to develop a vision for the future of education with the first of two summits. Education Minister Chris Hipkins compared the work of nearly 800 invited participants at the weekend event in Christchurch to 1937 when the then head of education Clarence Beeby and the prime minister Peter Fraser came up with their famous goal of providing every citizen with a free education of the kind for which they are best fitted. RNZ education correspondent John Gerritsen was at the summit.
