Dunedin man falls down unexpected backyard hole

A Dunedin man experienced quite a shock this week when a deep hole suddenly opened up underneath him in his backyard. Andrew Thomson was stuck at the bottom of the pit for 30 minutes until a neighbour heard his cries for help and rallied several nearby roadworkers for assistance. Mr Thomson tells Susie Ferguson the hole is not big enough to turn into a swimming pool.
