Fumes in Auckland building hospitalise 15

From Morning Report, 7:09 am on 11 May 2018

Tenants have been barred from returning to a central Auckland office building after unexplained fumes caused another evacuation last night. Augusta House on the corner of Victoria St West and Elliot St was evacuated twice on Thursday - once in the morning and again in the early evening. Emergency Services were first called to the building at 9.30am after an unusual smell was noticed on the eighth floor. Twelve people were taken to hospital and 100 others were assessed by paramedics. Numerous tests failed to establish out what the problem was. After the building was re-opened more people fell sick just before 6pm and three more were taken to hospital. Sally Murphy was there.
