Middlemore rot: DHB pressured to accept leaky building deal

Newly-released documents show the Counties-Manukau district health board was under pressure from its own top executives to agree to settlement of just $3 million from the construction company responsible for its leaky buildings. Board members said they were being 'time-crunched' and the deal was unfair - but were told the builder Hawkins wouldn't budge even though the costs of fixing its poor job were going up and up.
