Realistic, fake videos new threat on internet

Tech agencies fear a new type of AI that can paste a person's face onto another person's body in a video will be used to blackmail, ridicule and even alter the course of elections. Fake videos dubbed "deepfakes" emerged a few months ago, made by geeks wanting to insert celebrities into porn. But Netsafe and InternetNZ are among those worried deepfakes will eventually be used for far more nefarious purposes.
