EU-NZ free trade talks start: David Parker responds

From Morning Report, 7:11 am on 23 May 2018

New Zealand will hold free-trade talks with the world's biggest trading bloc, the European Union. The EU overnight approved the beginning of negotiations with New Zealand and Australia. Speaking in Brussels a few hours ago the European Trade Commissioner, Cecilia Malmström, welcomed the chance to negotiate with "important friends and allies". The deal could result in a GDP boost for New Zealand of from $1.2 to 2 billion, and a 10 to 20 percent increase in exports. Trade Minister David Parker discusses the implications with Guyon Espiner.
