Meth-test compensation should be considered - Dame Tariana

From Morning Report, 8:10 am on 30 May 2018

Dame Tariana Turia thinks there may need to be compensation for the people who have been kicked out of state homes because of meth testing that may have been baseless. She says the evictions because the now-debunked meth testing rule were a form of abuse. In 2016 Dame Tariana Turia became involved in a case after the home of a close family friend tested positive. As a result Housing New Zealand abruptly evicted the family and two children were removed by Child Youth and Family. Dame Tariana says that personal experience, and what she knew as a associate minister, appalled her.
