Meth evictions: Twyford plans inquiry before redress decision

From Morning Report, 7:11 am on 1 June 2018

There are significant developments in the meth testing story, with the Housing Minister Phil Twyford telling Morning Report he is now aplogising to state house tenants needlessly evicted from their homes. He also told us Housing New Zealand will conduct a major review into who was affected by the meth testing regime - after the Chief Scientist said there was no danger in occupying a home where meth had been smoked, rather than manfactured. In what seems to be a shift in his thinking, the Minister also said compensation could be payable.
