M bovis concerns for farmers during 'Gypsy Day'

From Morning Report, 7:28 am on 1 June 2018

Friday is officially 'Gypsy Day', the first day of winter and the date dairy farmers from Kaitaia to Bluff move thousands of cows to new pastures for winter grazing. For sharemilkers who own cows but no land, the day can mean shifting house as well and even moving children to new schools. But lots of cows on the move also means nervous times for farmers worried about their prized herds catching Mycoplasma bovis by mixing with infected cattle or from dirty stock trucks. Conan Young travelled to mid-Canterbury to talk to a sharemilking couple about how they were feeling ahead of the big move.
