NZ Beef + Lamb responds to Shaw's 'eat less meat' suggestion
The climate change minister has suggested New Zealanders eat one less meat meal a week. Ahead of launching another consultation process, James Shaw told media in the weekend that 95 percent of New Zealanders consume meat, and that takes a toll on water, energy and land resources. The proposal is not official government policy but it's part of The Greens' leader's plan to achieve a carbon-neutral economy by 2050. Sam McIvor is the chief executive of Beef and Lamb. He talks to Guyon Espiner.
