New Zealand First has put the brakes on Labour's plan to repeal the three strikes law. Justice Minister Andrew Little says he told the Prime Minister on Friday that he would have to pull the Cabinet proposal to get rid of the controversial law this year, after failing to get the support of New Zealand First.
"We negotiate everything we do as a government." Jacinda Ardern tells Guyon Espiner. In discussing Winston Peters' legal action against government ministries & State Services Commissioner Peter Hughes, Ms Ardern says it is a private matter.
Mr Peters took the case as private citizen before election and he would recuse himself if any conflicts of interest arise in his Cabinet duties, Ms Ardern says.
