E coli found in Waitaki groundwater

From Morning Report, 7:33 am on 4 July 2018

A Waitaki District community is unable to drink their groundwater after high levels of E.coli were discovered during routine checks. About 119 bore owners were notified by letter last month about a spike in bacteria levels that can cause severe stomach cramps, diarrhoea, vomiting, and can cause serious kidney issues. The governing body overseeing water in the region says it can't act until the source of the contamination is discovered.
