School rugby player banned over doping

From Morning Report, 8:45 am on 4 July 2018

A schoolboy rugby player has been banned as a result of a massive investigation into online purchases of prohibited substances. The player - who was a minor at the time of offending, so cannot be named - will be banned from playing the sport for four years. The wider investigation by Drug Free Sport New Zealand began in December last year, after it was revealed dozens of athletes from a range of levels were buying the banned steroid Clenbuterol from an online store. Drug Free Sport's chief executive is Nick Patterson.
