Protected leopard seal shot dead on Dargaville beach

A post-mortem is being carried out after a protected leopard seal was shot dead on a Dargaville beach over the weekend. The Department of Conservation said the seal had been shot in the face, possibly with a rifle. DOC's Kauri Coast operations manager, Stephen Soole, has been leading DOC's response.
