Italy bridge collapse: Dozens killed, rescuers search rubble

From Morning Report, 7:23 am on 15 August 2018

A man cried out to God as a 200-metre section of a vast motorway bridge collapses in the northwest Italian city of Genoa. Vehicles and debris fell 90 metres onto rail tracks and a warehouse when one of the bridge's huge supporting towers crashed down during torrential rain. One witness reported lightning striking the bridge. At least 35 people are reported to have been killed, including at least one child. The search for more victims is continuing. Elizabet from Genoa says many people in the city were fearful of the bridge, and saw it as unsafe. Josephine McKenna is our correspondent in Italy. She tells Guyon Espiner multiple emergency crews are expecting to pull more people from the rubble.
