Foetal alcohol-damaged children 'smashing windows, hitting people'

Experts who help families with children damaged by alcohol before they are born want explicit, hard hitting warnings about the danger of drinking while pregnant.

Neuropsychologist Valerie McGinn, who has given evidence on foetal alcohol damage in high profile court cases, including that of Teina Pora, says labels need to spell out that drinking can permanently harm the brain of a unborn child.

At the moment, the warnings on bottles are voluntary and consist of general warnings.
