'Disappointing' Ardern did not meet Nauru refugees - Rintoul

From Morning Report, 8:22 am on 6 September 2018

One of the main advocates for refugees in Australia, Ian Rintoul, says it's extremely disappointing Jacinda Ardern did not meet any refugees on Nauru. The Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, is back in New Zealand on Thursday morning after a one-day trip to Nauru for the Pacific Islands Forum. She confirmed late last night to reporters on Nauru just before getting on the plane home she hadn't met any refugees. But she said New Zealand's offer to take 150 refugees still stands. Susie Ferguson speaks to Ian Rintoul from the Refugee Action Coalition, who says meeting with refugees would have been an opportunity to cut through the propaganda of the Nauru government.
