Cancer Society criticises Pharmac over drug subsidies

From Morning Report, 8:10 am on 13 September 2018

As we reported earlier in the programme, some terminally ill cancer patients say a Pharmac decision is leaving them with no option but to wait to die, unless they can afford to buy their own drugs. Patricia Tear has bowel cancer. She's a single parent with two children under 12 and is under hospice care. She wears a pump to control pain and believes the health system has abandoned her. The Cancer Society's medical director, Chris Jackson, is frustrated by the human cost of Pharmac decisions. He joins us in our Dunedin studio.
