Court action 'only way to get change' - Diane Moody

From Morning Report, 6:40 am on 19 September 2018

An elderly Auckland woman who is taking her severely disabled son to court says she has been left with no other option. Diane Moody wants the Employment Court to declare that Shane Chamberlain is not capable of employing her. She cares for Shane in their home and is paid for 21 hours a week at the minimum wage through the Ministry of Health's Funded Family Care scheme. Under that arrangement her 51-year-old son, who has a mental age of two, is officially designated her employer. She spoke to RNZ reporter Catherine Hutton about how she felt taking court action against her son.
