Early childhood education ignored by govt - council

From Morning Report, 7:55 am on 16 October 2018

Early childhood educators say the government is ignoring a shortage of teachers in the sector, putting $10 million towards recruiting more school teachers but giving nothing to them. The Early Childhood Council says some centres are waiting up to 70 days to fill vacancies, and more than a quarter of its 1200 members have jobs that need to be filled. The council's chief executive is Peter Reynolds and he's in our Wellington studio.
