From Morning Report, 7:21 am on 19 October 2018

Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters says National's opened itself up to the accusation influence in politics can be bought. In a phone recording Jami-Lee Ross released this week of a conversation with National leader Simon Bridges, the pair discuss a relation of a wealthy Chinese businessman going through candidacy school, after talking about the $100,000 donation he allegedly gave them. That donation is now at the centre of a police complaint made by Mr Ross. Mr Bridges denies involvement in anything illegal. Political reporter Gia Garrick has the story.
