US, China APEC behaviour must be called out - Barme

From Morning Report, 8:14 am on 20 November 2018

Tensions between China and the US over trade and security issues have flared up at the APEC meeting in Papua New Guinea. During the meeting Australia's Prime Minister Scott Morrison suggested Beijing and Washington were close to resolving an on-going trade war. His confidence was short-lived as the differences between the two major powers prevented the summit from producing a joint communique for the first time in 25 years. The Prime Minister told Morning Report earlier that New Zealand's approach is not about picking sides. Geremie Barme is a China expert and a Australian National University emeritus professor. He talks to Philippa Tolley.
