Principals urge caution as overseas teachers recruited
Principals are worried New Zealand could become a dumping ground for foreign teachers who can't get jobs in their own countries. They're urging caution over the thousands of teachers who have responded to an overseas recruitment campaign aimed at helping schools get through the teacher shortage. The Education Ministry estimates 850 more teachers are needed for next year and 3,000 have responded to its overseas advertising.
