Huawei exclusion from 5g upgrade 'not a surprise' - Boileau

From Morning Report, 8:10 am on 29 November 2018

The Minister responsible for the GCSB is insisting the decision to ban the tech giant Huawei from Spark's 5G rollout is because of the technology not because the company is Chinese. The electronic spy agency has rejected Spark's plan to use Huawei equipment in its new network citing significant national security risks. The United States has locked the company out from government contracts and Australia has already banned it from its 5G networks. The British government's surveillance agency, the GCHQ, has also raised concerns about the security of Huawei telecom's equipment. Guyon Espiner discusses the issue with computer security specialist Adam Boileau.
