John Tamihere discusses Whānau Ora payouts

From Morning Report, 8:30 am on 7 December 2018

The Waipareira Trust's chief executive John Tamihere says a $600,000 dividend paid out to urban Māori authorities by a Whānau Ora commissioning agency is not going into individuals' pockets. The Minister for Whānau Ora, Peeni Henare, will meet officials from the Te Pou Matakana agency today to discuss the dividend. He says the $600,000 was paid out under the terms of its government contract and although those receiving it can spend it however they wish, he hopes it will go on improving services. John Tamihere is on the line from Australia. He talks to Susie Ferguson.
