Hundreds of teacher vacancies as schools reopen

Children back at school this week could be taught by untrained teachers with schools still looking to fill hundreds of teaching positions. Principals say they're having to make compromises to fill the gaps - looking to retired staff, foreign teachers and New Zealanders returning from overseas. The teacher shortage comes as student numbers grow, especially in Auckland. RNZ education correspondent John Gerritsen reports.
