Hundreds of kids wait months for specialist support

From Morning Report, 7:25 am on 13 February 2019

Waiting times for children with disabilities and behaviour problems to get help have jumped 30 percent in the last year. The average delay between a request for support and the service beginning jumped from 60 days at the middle of 2017 to 80 days last year and hundreds of children are waiting between five and ten months for specialist support. Under-five-year-olds and children with speech problems are facing especially long delays.
