Quake fears continue for heritage-listed buildings

From Morning Report, 6:40 am on 15 February 2019

Earthquake-prone building owners are warning the axe still hovers over them despite the Government's offer of more money to help. Steve Quinn loves a century-old bank in the main street of Marton. But he fears there is no hope for the empty old BNZ building, even under the Government's latest offer. The offer includes bigger grants towards engineering and other fees, or to pay for the strengthening work itself at heritage-listed buildings. Steve Quinn lives hundreds of kilometres away in Hunua near Auckland, and bought the old BNZ online. Reporter Phil Pennington asked him how he came to be involved.
