Politicians reflect on previous gun control stances

The March 15 terror attack has forced politicians to reckon with their previous positions on gun reform - the Defence Minister Ron Mark more than most. The New Zealand First MP last year boasted in Parliament about having repeatedly obstructed attempts to bolster gun control, describing such legislation as 'rubbish' and 'misguided nonsense'. He now finds himself supporting a sweeping crackdown on firearms - including a ban on military-style semi-automatic weapons and assault rifles. Our political reporter Craig McCulloch has been listening back.
