Queen's Wharf cruise ship extension to go ahead

The Auckland Council has given the go-ahead for a controversial extension of Queen's Wharf. The 90-metre-long dolphin structure, will allow huge cruise ships to berth in the harbour. Auckland Mayor Phil Goff is stressing the extension is temporary, with the commissioners stipulating that it be removed after no more than 15 years when Captain Cook Wharf becomes operational for cruise ships'.
