Census 2018 'a disaster' - demographer Paul Spoonley

From Morning Report, 7:20 am on 30 April 2019

Demographer Professor Paul Spoonley says the 2018 census was "a disaster", after Stats NZ announced on Monday that there will be another delay in releasing the data. One in seven people did not complete the census and the low response rate has already delayed the release twice. Stats NZ says it has now plugged enough of the gaps in the census to be able to start releasing data from September. That data will be used for including electorate boundaries and DHB funding, however it will not include an official count of iwi members. Paul Spoonley is a demographer and the pro vice-chancellor of Massey University. He talks to Gyles Beckford.
