Kiwi conservation leads to rabbit outbreak in Northland

Attempts to reduce the number of predators attacking Kiwi chicks have backfired in Northland. The Regional Council is being forced to spread rabbit-killing calici-virus, after effectively eliminating stoats which kept the rabbit population in check.
